"Expanding on the sound of their debut, Forests combines melodic Americana and English pop with lush Indian drones and an array of exotic acoustic instruments. Featuring their strongest and most emotionally direct set of songs to date, Forests took a punishing five years to complete. Recorded in snatched hours, late night at home and in a converted barn in the wilds of their native Norfolk, the album also features vocals from BBC-Introducing favourite Milly Hirst (Wooden Arms). Evoking at times the stark melancholy of Sun Kil Moon and Sufjan Stevens alongside the janglier melodic tones of Teenage Fanclub and Real Estate, Forests combines acoustic and electric instruments and multi-layered harmonies, with less familiar elements such as Indian harmonium, shruti box, glockenspiel and autoharp."
